Bixby

This week’s PAL is a cute Beagle/Dachshund mix named Bixby!!! Bixby is a young 26-pound guy who is just the cutest… see for yourself!

According to this foster mom, Bixby is the happiest fella. Though shy at first, once he opens up to people, he is a snuggler. He REALLY wants to just be in your lap, but will settle with being in the same room if necessary (sounds like a love bug to me)! He gets along GREAT with other dogs and would thrive in a home where he has at least one fur sibling. Bixby even gets along great with cats since he has a cat sister in his foster home.

So, Bixby clearly has the perfect personality – happy, lovable, and gets along great with others… but that’s not all! He is even housetrained!! Bixby is very well-behaved and knows all his tricks (including shake!), and loves learning more! This guy walks great on a leash and loves being outdoors!

Bixby would do best in a home with older children as little kids scare him, but if you are looking for a loving pup with an upbeat personality, Bixby is your guy! Bixby has had a trying year as he was hit by a car in early February where he suffered from a broken shoulder blade. Creative Contributions covered all of his veterinary bills and he is now in recovery <3! If you would like to inquire about adopting him, please contact his foster mom, Morgan, at morgancrouch14@gmail.com

Meet Meg.

Let me first start by saying #Megmakesmehappy — and I will tell you why.  Generally speaking, I just want to be loved by every single dog I meet.  Typically that doesn’t happen for me….it’s as if they can sense my desperation for their affection.  Yes, I’ll admit it. I am a Stage 5 Clinger.

So, allow me to take you back to the day I first met Meg.  Tristan and I had been at the Shelter with One Love Board Member, Emily.  She had pulled a couple of dogs out for us to snap some Pup Tees photos with to promote our shirts (and the dogs) at the same time. When we were putting our last dog away for the day, Emily spotted her fiance, Justin, coming around the corner with her favorite shelter dog….(enter Meg). She turned to me and said, “I am going to go put Ayla away…now you go meet Meg”. For those of you who don’t know Emily…this is probably the bossiest thing she has ever said in her life. So naturally, we turned around to go meet Meg immediately.

Meg seemed pretty unsure of the outside world at the shelter.  She was literally walking in a crouching position prepared to pancake at any moment. However, she was SO happy to be out with her favorite person ever (Justin) so she was torn between pancaking and smothering him with kisses. So she decided to do both. Crouch for 10 seconds, and then jump up and lick Justin’s face for 10 seconds. It was so funny and precious and perfect. We knew right then and there that Meg was special. Fortunately for her, she had Emily and Justin on her team and they generated so much support for her she eventually landed herself a spot in the One Love Shelter Dog Program. When it comes to Meg, Emily is literally at a loss for words because Meg is so perfect. She just wants to scoop Meg up and shower her with love until the end of time.

The One Love team knew Meg needed a break from the Shelter to have a chance to blossom. So they teamed up with Almost There Foster Care to arrange for a little vacation for Meg to the ATFC facility. The ATFC team immediately fell for Meg as well ❤

SO, back to the story about how I’m a Stage 5er — a few weeks ago Meg had a meet & greet/doggie intro with a family who was in love with her. We got there early to get Meg out and love on her a bit so she’d be feeling extra confident and excited about life. That was when it happened.  I left the play yard for a moment and when I came around the corner Meg was looking at me WAGGING HER TAIL. You guys, it was the moment I knew Meg was a dream come true.  She doesn’t give tail wags for just anyone….and there she was wagging her tail away like a little happy, carefree princess. So now, I am personally invested in Meg and need her to find the best home ever because I’m literally having attachment issues. When Meg knows you, it is literally like fireworks when she sees you.  Justin recently visited Meg on her staycation and Meg lit up like the legit Fourth of July. Do you know what that kind of love does for your self-confidence? Ya. You need her.

The family that came to meet her had four young kids…and as soon as Meg saw them walking towards her she was wagging her tail so enthusiastically for them as well (here’s where I started to feel less valued by Meg, but stillllll clinging to her). Turns out, Meg LOVES kids.  See picture below. This family LOVED Meg, but unfortunately….Meg did not love their dog.

You guys, Meg is unreal. She has the goofiest, most adorable spirit of all time. She makes you feel like the most loved person in the world. It is so clear why every volunteer that meets her is obsessed with her. She is the absolute sweetest. The time has come for Meg to find a home of her own. Help us help Meg by sharing her with your friends!  Contact info@oneloveaz.org if you are interested in meeting Meg while she is on her staycation from the shelter!

Becca <3

On Sunday, we stumbled upon this precious little princess pup, Becca. Well, we didn’t technically stumble upon her…One Love Board Member, Emily, had her out and we heard snorting coming down the hall. Then, we heard “COME SEE WHAT I HAVE…it’s a Boston Terrier/Pit Mix!” And then as we peeked out of the doorway we laid eyes on the most amazing creature to ever walk the planet….BECCA!

Immediately it was just overwhelming excitement. Pure joy from the mere sight of her + her wiggly little body just anxious to go ANYWHERE. Look, we even made Emily pick her up to show you her size of about 40 lbs! Thank you, Emily for being such a willing participant!

We pulled out the treats and quickly learned that Becca already knows “sit” and “down” and will perform them eagerly.  The best part was when we tried to get her to “roll over” by making circular motions with a treat in hand.  Her head literally followed the treat in tiny little fast circles. We have video proof of this. It was amazing.

Becca is a young gal, listed at only one year old.  She has a kennelmate (Misha the adorable meathead). She truly exudes happiness and is bursting with positive energy. She just wants to make you happy.

We paid for Becca’s microchip so if you adopt her you get it FO FREE! Guys, come on. A girl THIS cute should have a line out the door for her. So, let’s start the line, first come first serve. Ready, set, go!

She is at MCACC West and her ID is A3918700.

Easy-Going Arnie.

This week’s featured dog is sweet, handsome, Arnie. This three-year-old Collie/Cattle Dog mix is so affectionate and sweet that he even weaseled his way in to the One Love PIT BULL Foundation’s Shelter Dog Program (without actually being a pit bull).

Arnie’s eyes are so soulful and although he may be a tad on the shy side upon first impression, given the right incentive (treats) he transforms into the ultimate stage 5 clinger. During playgroups, Arnie loves to herd the other dogs around the play yard…someone needs to give this guy a job! Aside from keeping everyone grouped together in the play yard, Arnie also engages in play, so he is the definition of:

This slow-mover is truly easy-going.  One volunteer told us that Arnie was very patient and calm when she had him out for a walk at the Shelter the other day.  Turns out they stumbled upon a group trying to help a dog who had “pancaked” (aka laid down and wouldn’t get up). They used Arnie to help “lead” the other dog.  Arnie handled the job like a pro and totally didn’t mind being a support system for the scared pup!

Arnie is so sweet and affectionate. He is super easy to handle and goes in and out of his kennel willingly.  Also noteworthy, this guy is a slooowww eater.  In general, Arnie seems to be a guy marching to the beat of his own drum.  Not in a hurry to do much….(except herd dogs around the play yard).

Look, Arnie comes with a free microchip, free post-adoption training, and general post-adoption support from a whole group of people who know their shit stuff! So, come on you guys….a guy like Arnie should NOT still be waiting at the shelter for his family. Let’s  all put forth the tiniest bit of effort this week and help this sweet fella find a home!
